Anna

Hi! My name is Anna Wood and I am a student in Miss Burke's painting and drawing class. I chose this as my favorite project in Art because I felt it best described me. I came up with the idea for my cover because Miss Burke said it would be a self portrait of ourselves, so I drew a girl that represents me. My favorite part was making this journal because it was so much fun!, it's my dream journal that i have always wanted. Plus, I incorporated some of my favorite things in it buttons, bows and music notes. Overall I had fun in Miss Burke's art class.

Christian

Hi my name is Christian. I chose my cover to talk about in this blog. Soccer represents me very well. I've been playing it since i was 8 years old. I like how the grass look. I love soccer so much so i decided to make my cover. It has my favorite soccer cleats and my favorite soccer ball for the world cup for this year.

Maddie

Hi my name is Maddie Domecq and this is my journal cover project. To create this, I painted with watercolors and covered it with map of England with parts of the painting still visible. Then, I cut the outline of the London skyline out of purple tissue paper and covered the rest of the journal with my favorite quotes and doodles. This was my favorite project because it gave me the opportunity to represent my personality and style. For example, I am a rather large fan of BBC Sherlock, my favorite city is London, and I am a big believer in drawing with pen.

Aubrey Lykans Plays with Proportion

Hi my name is Aubrey. I chose this as my blog post because it is my favorite principle that we did in class. We had to do a series of them where you found pictures in magazines to represent the principle. In this specific  principle page  i decided to create my own version of proportion. I made it so that the animals are out of proportion. I used a transparent paper and traced a cat and a dog on it so that the patterned paper would show through them. This years art class was so much fun and i am so happy that i was part of it!

Brandy Martinez Thinks Outside the Box!

My journal was inspired by my grandma because she always has flowers all around the house in Mexico. I like this idea and I put the petals on top of each other to make it look 3D. I also added the "think outside the box" because I like to think and do what others think is impossible. I had so much fun making my journal cover I kind of got behind, but it's ok because I loved it and it was perfect to me.

Christina DiMauro Mixed Media

Hi, my name is Christina DiMauro and art is my way of expressing myself through different types of mediums. I love traveling, taking pictures, and painting so these pictures describe my passion. This is what i made for my journal covers, and i hope you like it. This year, i always enjoyed coming to art class and describing myself through my art, and having a good time with my peers.

Katherine Poe

Hello, it's Katherine Poe!  If you're reading this you probably received a tag from either myself or one of my fellow classmates.  I chose to post pictures of my journal cover (top picture is the front cover, bottom picture is the back) which was supposed to reflect us and our personalities in some way.  The front cover is a girl whose body is turning into birds, who are flying away in all different directions.  To me, this represents breaking away from the expectations put upon us by society and the freedom that comes with being an individual who is unique and comfortable with said uniqueness.  The back cover is a poem I found (there was no author credited) that again reflects the desire to be free, content with life and without the burdens we sometimes carry through our lives.  To create this piece, I used pen and a special pencil which, once on paper, can be manipulated with water, almost like paint.  Altogether, I loved this assignment and my finished product. I enjoyed Ms. Burke's art class so much, and learned things about myself as a person and as an artist that I will remember for the rest of my life.

The Audrey Douglas Show

Hey everybody, welcome back to the Audrey Show! If you got my awesome tag, that means you won! Congrats! Here's your lovely present: You should definitely take art with Miss Burke. I was lucky enough to have art throughout the whole year, and because of that I learned some great skills. My favorite project was in the second semester and it was my cover assignment for my art journal. I got to use many composition techniques. I got to use overlapping, cropping and color. I got to learn many skills I know will be useful in the future and throughout my life.

Kate's Natural Explorations

Hello my name is Kate Pilcher. I am a student in Ms. Burke's painting and drawing class. In my free time I love to explore the natural world and create paintings and drawings. Most of my artwork is inspired by the natural world and previous vacations. Pictured below are a few of my paintings and drawings that I have worked on in school and at my house. The folder with the jellyfish was my favorite assignment because I loved how it turned out. I used watercolor on the background to try to create the look of water in the ocean and decided to use pens to draw the jellyfish. The other drawings I drew at my house using techniques I learned in art class.

Ellie Roberts... The beauty in everything

Hi! This is Ellie Roberts and this is my journal cover! I think this is the artwork that reflects me the most that I have done. I love flowers, nature, fun lettering, and colorful patterns and designs. The quote on the back is very important to me because it is easy to see the beauty in flowers, but it is harder to find the beauty in the vines. This is why I wrote the saying in the vines between the flowers. Overall, I love this artwork and think it reflects me and my personality!

Master of Value Drawing Jack Leftridge

Hello my name is Jack Leftridge,

You can probably guess this is my drawing, I did this with, mechanical pencil and blended the shades by smearing the page with a tissue. This was a project, that we worked on in art class and  that I felt proud of? I don't know,  that was the assignment. Even though it was what we were working on in art class,
Mrs. FR, I spent a good amount of time working on it in you'r class. therefore, I should probably let you see what I worked on.

Estefan Moreno Graffiti Artist

Hello my name is Estefan Moreno one project we had to do in art was to make a cover for our art journal. Surprisingly it was actually fun i got to show some of the things I like in life.....Graffiti. The giant symbol in the middle if your wandering means fire in Japanese and the A to the right of it means anarchy. It also shows a new graffiti artist i found to like Robbo it was a fun experience in art learning new techniques in class.  I hope the students next year who take art have as much fun as I did.

Antonia Zouridakis's Musical Color

Hi! My name is Antonia Zouridakis. Our first major project in art class was to create our own journal covers! We had to make our covers reflect our personality.  These would be the journals where we would put and make all of our artwork. My favorite part of the assignment was that we started with basically a blank canvas and we could do anything with it. We could make it whatever we wanted it to be. For my cover I wanted to incorporate my two favorite things: music and art. For the background I put sheet music on the journal and then I splatter painted it to make it look super colorful. I added a great quote that I found and on the back I added theatrical masks because I also love theatre!

The quote is one of my favorite quotes , inspires you to live your life with joy. Yes, my journal is pretty beaten up but its because i use it so often in art class and just in my free time. so now you know a little bit about me as an artist!;)

Ava Carr's Movie Masterpiece

Hello my name is Ava Carr! My artwork was a project where we had to reflect our self with our journal cover. So to reflect me I choose old films and musicals. I chose to do this by having the warm wonderful memories of watching old films while being snugged as a rug on the couch. To do this I printed out old movie poster in black and white and mod podge them onto the front of my cover. Then to top it all off I traced Audrey 2 (the Venus flytrap) from the movie,  The Little Shop Of Horrors and colored it and then glued to the front of my cover. Then for the back I traced Max at his typewriter from the movie Mary and Max, with a black background and I glued the drawing of Max to the back. I would highly recommend you watch Mary and Max because in my opinion it is one of the greatest movies of all time.

Artist Olivia Yeager Experiments with Watercolor

Hello! My name is Olivia Yeager. This is my color assignment. We used water color to paint an original design. For this assignment, I used the analogous color combination of blue-green, blue, and blue-purple. I really like this assignment because the texture was an unexpected surprise. Sprinkling salt on the paper gave it a nice texture in some areas. The salt absorbed some of the color and gave it the unique texture. Overall, this is one of my favorite assignments.
