Hi! My name is Anna Wood and I am a student in Miss Burke's painting and drawing class. I chose this as my favorite project in Art because I felt it best described me. I came up with the idea for my cover because Miss Burke said it would be a self portrait of ourselves, so I drew a girl that represents me. My favorite part was making this journal because it was so much fun!, it's my dream journal that i have always wanted. Plus, I incorporated some of my favorite things in it buttons, bows and music notes. Overall I had fun in Miss Burke's art class.

Christian
Hi my name is Christian. I chose my cover to talk about in this blog. Soccer represents me very well. I've been playing it since i was 8 years old. I like how the grass look. I love soccer so much so i decided to make my cover. It has my favorite soccer cleats and my favorite soccer ball for the world cup for this year.
Maddie
Hi my name is Maddie Domecq and this is my journal cover project. To create this, I painted with watercolors and covered it with map of England with parts of the painting still visible. Then, I cut the outline of the London skyline out of purple tissue paper and covered the rest of the journal with my favorite quotes and doodles. This was my favorite project because it gave me the opportunity to represent my personality and style. For example, I am a rather large fan of BBC Sherlock, my favorite city is London, and I am a big believer in drawing with pen.
Aubrey Lykans Plays with Proportion
Hi my name is Aubrey. I chose this as my blog post because it is my favorite principle that we did in class. We had to do a series of them where you found pictures in magazines to represent the principle. In this specific principle page i decided to create my own version of proportion. I made it so that the animals are out of proportion. I used a transparent paper and traced a cat and a dog on it so that the patterned paper would show through them. This years art class was so much fun and i am so happy that i was part of it!
Brandy Martinez Thinks Outside the Box!
My journal was inspired by my grandma because she always has flowers all around the house in Mexico. I like this idea and I put the petals on top of each other to make it look 3D. I also added the "think outside the box" because I like to think and do what others think is impossible. I had so much fun making my journal cover I kind of got behind, but it's ok because I loved it and it was perfect to me.
Christina DiMauro Mixed Media
Hi, my name is Christina DiMauro and art is my way of expressing myself through different types of mediums. I love traveling, taking pictures, and painting so these pictures describe my passion. This is what i made for my journal covers, and i hope you like it. This year, i always enjoyed coming to art class and describing myself through my art, and having a good time with my peers.
Katherine Poe
Hello, it's Katherine Poe! If you're reading this you probably received a tag from either myself or one of my fellow classmates. I chose to post pictures of my journal cover (top picture is the front cover, bottom picture is the back) which was supposed to reflect us and our personalities in some way. The front cover is a girl whose body is turning into birds, who are flying away in all different directions. To me, this represents breaking away from the expectations put upon us by society and the freedom that comes with being an individual who is unique and comfortable with said uniqueness. The back cover is a poem I found (there was no author credited) that again reflects the desire to be free, content with life and without the burdens we sometimes carry through our lives. To create this piece, I used pen and a special pencil which, once on paper, can be manipulated with water, almost like paint. Altogether, I loved this assignment and my finished product. I enjoyed Ms. Burke's art class so much, and learned things about myself as a person and as an artist that I will remember for the rest of my life.
